Falcao staying until the summer

radamel-falcao-staying-until-the-summerAtletico Madrid’s star striker Radamel Falcao believes that he will be staying in the Spanish capital until at the summer at least. Some reports were suggesting that the goal machine would be on his way out of the club in the January transfer window, but he does not think that will be the case.

Falcao has proved to be one of the best strikers on the planet in the last year or so and is scoring a lot of goals for Atletico, including two in the Europa League final and then a hat-trick in the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea back in August.

It is thought that a number of the big European clubs have got their eye on the 26-year-old, but it looks as though they may have to hold out until the end of the season.

He said: “I recognise the great effort made by (Atletico president) Enrique Cerezo for me to stay at the club.

“I thank God our results have been so positive and that we have done so well this season so far. My expectation is that I will be staying at the club until the end of the season.”

The Colombia international has netted 17 times in just 16 La Liga matches this campaign, which puts him three ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo – so it is no surprise that people rate Falcao so highly. It is likely that he will move on for a new challenge in the next year or so, but where he might be heading is the big question.

At the moment, Chelsea lead the way as they are the 5/6 favourites to be the next team that Falcao plays for. The Blues are in need of another front-man and they don’t come much better than the Colombian. Then you can back the former Porto man making a controversial move to Real Madrid at 11/4, something that would not go down well with the Atletico faithful.

Manchester City are at 11/2 and Paris Saint Germain at 9/1.

One thing is for sure, wherever Radamel Falcao goes, he will score goals – his record proves that.
