Colorado State Vs Murray State Picks, Spread, and Review

Colorado State (20-11 SU/17-11-1 ATS) excelled at home this year with a 14-1 mark and they were perfect at home against conference opponents this season, but they had a hard time away from Fort Collins as the team compiled a 3-9 record on the highway.

Wes Eikmeier led the Rams with 15.6 ppg and Dorian Green scores 13.5 ppg, and while they are the only two in double-figures, they get plenty of support from Pierce Hornung (8.7 ppg), a 64.3 percent shooter from the floor who also grabs a team-high 8.4 rebounds per game.

Will Bell (8.4 ppg) and Jesse Carr (7.1 ppg) also figure into the mix. Greg Smith is also a key factor to the Rams’ success with 9.7 ppg and 5.3 rpg and it should be noted he has been dealing with an ankle injury, but is expected to give a go in this one.

Murray State (30-1 SU/14-11-2 ATS) had a storybook year with the final chapter yet to be written.

Head coach Steve Prohm led his Racers to one of the most impressive seasons of any team in the nation. Murray State is the only team in the land with just one loss after both top ranked Kentucky and No. 2 Syracuse lost in their respective conference tournaments.

Murray State defeated every opponent it faced as it avenged its lone loss to Tennessee State. Prohm was named the OVC Coach of the Year in his first year at the helm as he broke conference and program records while leading MSU into the national rankings.

The Racers have been solid at both ends of the court, ranking first in the OVC in both field goal percentage (.478) and field goal percentage defense (.421). Isaiah Canaan was named the 2012 OVC Player of the Year after putting up 19.4 ppg, while Jewuan Long was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year after his season-long domination of opposing foes.

Donte Poole adds 14.2 ppg, while Ivan Aska is averaging 10.9 points and a team-high 5.7 boards per outing. The Racers played a relatively easy non-conference schedule early in the season, although they did prevail when they stepped up in class by posting wins over Memphis on the road (76-72), while also beating Southern Miss and Dayton at home.

Colorado State is 9-4 ATS as an underdog in neutral site games and 7-1 ATS in its last eight games overall, but the Rams are only 6-7 ATS as an underdog lately.

Murray State is 5-1 ATS as a favorite between -3½ and -6 points on a neutral court and 6-0 ATS as a favorite of -6 points or less overall, as well as 6-0 ATS against non-conference opponents.

Murray State has just one loss, by four points, and they know how to win, while CSU struggled away from home all season. Murray State will have a big advantage in this one as they are playing in its home state and less than 200 miles from their campus.

Lay the points.
