North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Kansas Jayhawks Picks

North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Kansas Jayhawks Picks

North Carolina and Kansas both advanced to the Elite Eight, but neither team covered in their Sweet Sixteen game. UNC were huge favourites over Ohio even though UNC was playing without their starting PG. UNC ended up winning the game 73-65, but the Bobcats were close to pulling the big upset. Kansas barely beat NC State 60-57, but in this tourney all that counts is a win.

UNC needed overtime to knock off Ohio. North Carolina outscored Ohio 10-2 in OT to win the game, but the team squandered a big lead in the 2nd half to force OT. Barnes had a bad game, but he stepped up in OT to score half of his team’s points. Zeller led the team with 20 points and three other players scored in double digits for UNC to help them advance to the E8.

Kansas had to play a tough NC State team in the Sweet Sixteen and pulled out a 3 point win 60-57. Kansas was losing at half by 1, but they won the game in the 2nd half. The Jayhawks have been making a habit of playing close games in the tourney this year and they haven’t been good ATS. Robinson scored 18 points to lead the team and Withey had an incredible 10 blocks in the game.

This should be a very good game that I can’t wait to watch. Kansas hasn’t played great in the tournament yet and has done just enough to make it through each round. That’s fine if they step it up this weekend, so it should be interesting to see if Kansas has just been playing around with their opponents up to this point.

Kansas should have a small edge down low with Robinson. Zeller is going to score, but he’s not that tough on defence and I think that Robinson will have a big game. UNC will also be without their PG and it’s going to cost them against Kansas. In their last game UNC turned the ball over 24 times against Ohio and they still won in OT.

Kansas is a much stronger team than Ohio and the Tar Heels can’t turn the ball over close to 20+ times. Without Kendall on the court UNC has trouble moving the ball. Kansas is going to win this game this weekend and I’ll be betting on their moneyline and point spread once it’s released.
