VCU vs Indiana Picks, Spread, and Review

VCU comes off a 62-59 win over a good Wichita State team as +7½ point underdogs. Bradford Burgess finished with 16 points, while Darius Theus and Troy Daniels had 10 points apiece for the Rams, who edged Drexel 59-56 in the Colonial Athletic Association tournament final to make it to the NCAAs. VCU set a school record for wins in a season with Thursday’s victory.

The Rams will play fourth-seeded Indiana in the third round of the South Region on Saturday. The Rams have won 18 of their last 19 games. VCU is making its 11th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and fourth in the past six years.

VCU was one of the tournament’s biggest surprises last year when the Rams notched victories over Georgetown, Purdue, Florida State and Kansas, making the Rams just the third No. 11 seed to reach the Final Four. The run ended when they lost to Butler in the semifinals of the Final Four.

Indiana is off a 79-66 win over New Mexico State as -6 point favorites. Jordan Hulls made four three-pointers en route to 22 points, as the Hoosiers easily handled the New Mexico State Aggies in a second round South Regional matchup in the NCAA Tournament.

Christian Watford, Will Sheehey and Cody Zeller added 14 points apiece for the fourth-seeded Hoosiers, who are appearing in the NCAA tourney for the first time since 2008. Indiana shot 59.3 percent from the floor, while New Mexico State shot 55.1 percent from the field, but the Aggies turned the ball over 17 times. The Hoosiers are making their 36th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. They own a 61-30 overall record in the event.

VCU is 14-5 ATS in March games and 28-12 ATS vs. winning teams in the second half of the season; and the Rams are also 10-1 ATS in NCAA Tournament games. Indiana comes in 8-0 ATS against non-conference foes and the Hoosiers are 9-4-1 ATS in NCAA Tournament games.

However, Indiana is just 5-12-1 ATS when playing on a neutral court and # 4 seeds are 9-21 ATS in this round since 2003.
