New York Giants Vs Dallas

New York is off a heartbreaking 38-35 home loss to Green Bay as +6½ point dogs. Eli Manning completed 23-of-40 passes for 347 yards. He had a 67-yard touchdown pass to Travis Beckum and touchdown tosses of 4 and 2 yards to Hakeem Nicks. Brandon Jacobs scored on a 1-yard run and Lawrence Tynes kicked two field goals, including a 50-yarder in the fourth quarter to get New York within 28-27. It was a gritty performance by the Giants, who tied the game at 35-35 with 58 seconds remaining, only to see Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay march 68 yards down the field in the final minute to set up a game winning FG for the Packers. NY ended with a narrow 449-447 edge in total yards and it wasn’t surprising they gave Green Bay a game. The Giants ended the Broncos perfect season at 11 games in 1998 and they knocked off the Patriots in the Super Bowl in February 2008 when Tom Brady and company were a game from perfection.

Dallas comes off 19-13 OT loss at Arizona as -4 point road favs. Tony Romo was 28-of-42 passing for 299 yards and a TD with no interceptions, but he was sacked five times. The Cowboys had relied on the leg of rookie kicker Dan Bailey the past two weeks after he kicked the game winner in overtime at Washington and booted a last-second FG in a narrow win over Miami on Thanksgiving. He was in position for another game-winning kick after Dez Bryant’s 15-yard reception on 3rd-and-11 gave Dallas a first down at the Arizona 31. With seven seconds left in the fourth quarter and the teams deadlocked at 13-13, Bailey drilled a 49-yard field goal. However, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett called a timeout. Bailey’s second attempt fell short and sent the game to overtime, where they eventually lost. Eight of the Cowboys’ twelve games this season have been decided by six points or less.

This is the first meeting this year between the ‘Boys and the Giants. They will meet again in the regular season finale in three weeks. Dallas and NY split the season series a year ago, with NY winning 41-35 in Arlington and Dallas winning 33-20 in the rematch at the Meadowlands. Romo broke his collarbone in the first meeting and was lost for the season. Dallas is 3-10 ATS in games where the line is +3 to -3, but the Giants are only 2-10 ATS against winning teams in the second half of the season. However, NY is 9-2-1 ATS as a road dog between +3½ and +10 points and 17-8 ATS on the road against teams with a winning home record; and Dallas has been atrocious in December (5-14 ATS) and an equally miserable 4-14 ATS as a division home chalk. Dog or nothing…
