There is lots of sport going on in September with the Paralympics drawing plenty of attention alongside the ever popular football season.

There is also the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup and the most famous tournament in golf, the Ryder Cup, to cast an eye over, and with NFL and college football starting this month also September shapes as quite a month in World sport.

The EPL continues and International Football

The English Premier League has had an explosive start with plenty of goals, drama and shock results. It continues throughout September with some eye-catching fixtures, including Liverpool v Manchester United and Manchester City v Arsenal.

There is also an international week in September as the 2014 World Cup qualifiers get underway. Football managers across Europe – where the season is in full swing – will be watching anxiously in the hope that their players return fit, no doubt about that.

Twenty20 Cricket World Cup

One of the most exciting tournaments in cricket is upon us this month as the Twenty20 World Cup gets underway on the 18th September in Sri Lanka.

England are defending their title of course and they have an exciting group of players, but conditions will be tough for them. They are also without their best batsman, Kevin Pietersen.

England are also in action against South Africa as the ODI series continue and they take part in three Twenty20 matches.

Ryder Cup 2012

It doesn’t get underway until the last weekend of September, but the 2012 Ryder Cup is bound to be worth the wait. The teams have been named and the scene is set as Europe and USA go head to head once again.

Europe were victorious last time out of course, but this is a strong US team that will look to excel on the home soil of Chicago. They also have an in-form Tiger Woods in their ranks.

From the moment the first ball is hit on the 28th September, don’t take your eyes off this one.

Premiership Rugby

It may not have the glamour of the international schedule, but there are many excited about the return of the Aviva Premiership in September.

With some high-profile signings look to make an impact and potential England internationals looking to impress, there will definitely be some entertaining and competitive contests. London Wasps v Harlequins gets things underway on Saturday 1st September.

Formula 1 is back!

After the summer break, Formula 1 is back with a bang this month. The Belgian Grand Prix takes place on the first weekend of the month, while the Italian Grand Prix is a week later.

You then have the Singapore Grand Prix on the 23rd September, so this is a crucial month for everyone involved with Formula 1. Fernando Alonso leads the driver standings at the moment, will he still do so by October?

NFL Regular Season Starts

The NFL regular season gets underway on Wednesday with the Cowboys visiting the Giants. During the month of September we’ll get to watch the first four weeks of the season and will have a good idea of what teams are legit.

Week 2 of the season begins with a match-up between bitter rivals Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. The Packers should win at home, but the new look Bears offence should put up a tough fight.

College Football Continues to Pick Up

The 1st week of college football is now complete, but we still have four more weeks of college football action this month including some marquee match-ups. In week the WVU Mountaineers take on the Florida State Seminoles.

In week 3 Notre Dame plays Michigan State in a big match-up and the Fighting Irish need to follow that game up with a week 4 match-up against Michigan. With many cupcake games scheduled this month Notre Dame is the complete opposite.

2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase Starts

This past weekend Denny Hamlin won the AdvoCare 500 in Atlanta. There is only one race left before the Chase starts and that means many drivers will be looking to lock up that 2nd wild card spot.

This weekend NASCAR is in Richmond for the 2012 Federated Auto Parts 400. After the Richmond race the Chase starts and there are three more races this month including the 2012 GEICO 400, 2012 Sylvania 300 and 2012 AAA 400.

AFL Grand Final

The AFL Grand Final is scheduled to take place on September 29th 2012 in Melbourne Australia. The teams are still battling it out to see who qualifies for this year’s AFL Grand Final, but there is no doubt that this is the biggest sporting event in Australia in September.

PGA Tour Championship

This weekend the 3rd and final FedEx Cup playoff tournament will be hosted in Indiana. The 2012 BMW Championships is the last chance for golfers to qualify for the 2012 PGA Tour Championships.

The 2012 PGA Tour Championships will be played at the East Lake Golf Course in Atlanta, Georgia. Only the top 30 point leaders will be participating in the championships from September 20th – September 23rd 2012.
